Cavalier Clay by BluMaan Reviews
Michael South
What’s up beautiful people. My name is Mike. How you’re all doing? It’s time for a hair video. It’s back to the roots, kind of. I did quite a lot of hair videos back in the day, which means a couple of months ago when I had a longer hairstyle and I tried out some different hair products. Kind of giving you my review on them and tried to figure out what hair products works for a longer hairstyle. But you all know I have a shorter hairstyle and basically a lot of hair products are meant for shorter hairstyles.
Usually, when companies create hair products like waxes, hair sprays, gels, whatever, they are usually aimed for a short hair audience. Guess what? With a shorter hairstyle, I can try out more products, experiment, have fun with my hair. I’m kind of trying out this summer beard thing. It’s not really going that well. We’ll see what happens. This is shit so far. Yeah, anyways, in this video I’ll try out a specific product. The company was kind enough to send me a sample to give you my review on it.
All right. The company is called BluMaan and if you guys don’t know who BluMaan is you should definitely check it out on YouTube. A lot of you people probably already know who BluMaan is because BluMaan is one of the biggest hair channels on YouTube. If you want some real badass hair inspirations, you should definitely check out Joe at BluMaan. I’ll leave a link down in the description. Joe at BluMaan is one of the main reasons why I started making hair videos because I got really inspired. I followed his videos for a very long time. He got some badass content for you guys. I draw a lot of inspirations from BluMaans. If you’re interested, check it out down below, linked to his YouTube channel.
All right, they were kind enough to send me their newest product by BluMaan. It’s called Cavalier Clay by Blumaan. It’s a heavy hold and natural finish. I will give you my review on it. We will try it out, see what it does, just experiment with it. I will try to create a summer hairstyle that is really easy to do and is practical during the summer. It’s not too hot. It’s stylish. It always works. The hairstyle that I rock on a daily.
All right, so right now I don’t have any product in my hair but there is still some product in my hair since yesterday if that makes sense. It’s not washed. It still has some product in it like yesterday or the day before, but it still needs a bit more product daily to keep it manageable. All right, so let me tell you a trick. If you don’t want to wash your hair every single day while you’re using hair products, but you still want to apply more, make it more manageable during the day but not ruin it.
Oh, got some loose hair strings. Ha, it’s the spray bottle trick. If you don’t have one, I recommend that you get a spray bottle. It’s really practical, it’s easy to use, and it will last forever. This thing won’t break. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy or expensive. I got this one for about $2. It will last, it’s durable, it’s no worries. I will get my hair damp which will make it easier for me to style with a new product, yeah.
All right, so I didn’t use a lot of water because I don’t want to make my hair wet. I just want to make it a bit damp because when applying some product in damp hair will make it a lot easier to style. This is what I’m working with. All right, quick note before I try out the product. My hairstyle right now the way I got it cut is that my sides are a bit shorter. They are about this long, about an inch, and my backs and the top is a bit longer. I decided to get it disconnected on my right side. This is not a disconnected haircut but what I mean is that this is where the difference is, long, short. Yeah, something like that. Naturally, my hair is moving to the left and that will be useful in this hairstyle, all right? Cool.
All right, let’s get to the product. It’s Cavalier Clay by BluMaan. It’s a clay. It’s heavy hold and natural finish. Controls unruly hair and creates extreme texture, extreme. All right, as you can see, I already tried some of it. As you can see, it’s a clay. It smells kind of nice. It smells like honey or beeswax and that is one of the ingredients so the smell is good. With this amount of hair, I won’t be needing more product than this. All right, product applied. Let’s start at the top, work our way down. All right, so this is my end result. Looks like I could go and get a job. Not bad. Focus.
All right, as I’ve said, I have already tried it out actually a couple of days because I wanted to give you my real review on it not only as one-time thing on camera. Okay, so Cavalier Clay by BluMaan does the trick. You only have to apply it once. It will last throughout the day no matter how much you move your hair with your fingers trying to style it throughout the day, it will last. It smells really good. It smells like honey or beeswax but it has such a good last that when you wake up the next day, you will still have some product left in your hair. You will still be able to style with it which can get annoying if you wake up with a bed head.
I did an experiment and I tried to use it for about two or three days. The first two days I applied some product, the third day I didn’t have to because I still had so much product left in my hair that the only way to get rid of it was by taking a shower. As it says in the package, creates extreme texture, yeah, and it controls unruly hair, and it really does. It will keep your hair in place and it will last.
If you are a person who uses hair products for only one day and then you take your shower every single morning or in the evening, then this is a really good product. If you’re like me and you don’t shower your hair with shampoo every single day because you know how fragile hair is, then you will notice that the product won’t leave your hair. With that said, it’s a really good product. You have my opinion on the product, you have my review, and I give the product seven out of 10.
All right, that’s it. If this is your first time watching any of my videos, I have plenty of others. You can check out Instagram down below. Click it, check it, follow, do whatever you want with it, and you can subscribe if you want to. You don’t have to. I still love you either way. I hope you guys have a wonderful week. I’ll see you in the next video. I love you. Bye.

As always, I’m going to start with the packaging. The jar is made out of plastic. On top, we have the name, Cavalier Clay by BluMaan. Below that, they let us know that this is a clay with heavy hold and natural finish. Also, it contains 2.5 ounces or 74 grammes. On the side of the packaging, you can find a lot of information, like the ingredients and a lot more.
Now let’s move onto the smell and how the product feels into your hand. Actually I was surprised because I was expecting a [inaudible 00:01:10] scent, but actually smells like [inaudible 00:01:11]. Not my favourite, but I like it. As for the consistency of Cavalier Clay by Blumaan, it’s like a typical clay, but actually is very easy to breakdown. Also, what surprised me the most is how fast the product gets warmth.
Enough with that. Now is the moment of the styling process. I’m going to start with clean hair. I’m going to blow dry, as every day. Then I’m going to apply the product. Let’s see what it can do.
Now that we are done with the hairstyle, it’s time to show you my thoughts. I’ve been using this product for about five days now and I got to say, Cavalier Clay by BluMaan gives you a very, very good hold. Also, the volume is great. A very good thing about the product is that you can restyle your hair throughout the day so easily. Also, a feature that is one of my favourite is how easily the product can go through your hair. It’s just so easy. It’s very easy. It’s the easiest, easy. Yes, easy. Easy. Overall, a great product, which I would recommend to everyone. If you’d ask me when I saw Cavalier Clay by Blumaan for the first time, it actually reminded me a lot Claymation and that’s a very good thing for me because Claymation is one of my all time favourite products, but it turned out that they are a lot different from each other. I got to say I like Cavalier Clay by BluMaan a bit more.
The product is going to be available at the beginning of June I believe. If you want to pick one up for yourself, feel free to use my promo code, “rei”, for ten percent off of Cavalier Clay by BluMaan and every other product from the BluMaan line, like the original or the pomade. Okay guys. That was it for today’s video. In the description down below you can find all my social media, like Instagram, Facebook, SnapChat, Twitter, which I don’t use a lot, but why not?
Also, make sure to click the like button. Comment in the comments sections down below what you think about the hairstyle that I created and also about the product if you have tried it. You haven’t tried it because it’s not available yet, but yeah. Also, if you run into my channel, make sure to subscribe so you don’t lose any of my new videos, like the next video, which is going to be the next Sunday. That’s it for now. Until the next time, peace.

Kicking off with the packaging of Cavalier Clay by Blumaan. Aesthetically we’re seeing it remain within that simplistic Blumaan theme. I’m a big fan of it personally. With this product in particular, it’s probably my favourite colorway that they’ve done.
In regards to what we can actually learn from the packaging, however, on the side there’s a list of ingredients which is helpful for any of you who are interested. It is packed with several natural healthy hair ingredients. It also states that Cavalier Clay by BluMaan has a heavy hold/natural matte finish which is generally what we like to expect from clays.
One thing I did notice is there’s no mention of Cameron Cretney on the packaging. I’m fully aware that Cameron is more than happy for this to be the case. But for someone like me who’s been following this development of this product for so long now, it just feels a little strange not having his name easily recognised on the packaging.
Moving onward to the application. The consistency of the product itself is actually quite tough. I find it quite hard to scoop out, especially for me at the moment because I got quite a bad wrist. It does take a little effort to warm up in between your hands. But, once you go to apply it into your hair, you’ll find it’s more than effortless. It honestly goes in. No tugging. No pulling. None of that.
Hold is possibly one of the more important aspects when it comes to clays. From my personal experience of trying it for just about a week now I found the clay to have a medium to high hold. For those of you who have tested Hanz De Fuko’s Claymation, I found the hold to be quite comparable. They are of course very different products but the hold and primarily the hold are quite comparable so that’s something you can go off if you haven’t actually tested Cavalier Clay. During my trial period with Cavalier Clay, I also picked up that the hold does vary with the amount of product you actually apply. I know this may come across as common sense but it is an important point to make. Less is certainly more with this product and that brings me onto my next point. Finish.
The way you’re going to get the most out of this product is if you find the right amount for your hair type, your hair length, thickness and so on and so forth. If done correctly, you’ll find you’ll have a nice pliable medium to high hold finish, and it also provides a decent amount of texture. When applying too much, I have found it to weigh down my hair which can actually be used to your advantage depending on what kind of style you’re going for. You can get quite a slick matte finish and that’s quite a cool look but the whole weighing down of the hair is pretty expected if you use too much of any clay. It doesn’t necessarily mean it’s this clay in particular.
To summarise Cavalier Clay by BluMaan. It comes in clean, simplistic packaging. The product is thick in consistency. It’s easy to apply even in thick hair. It’s a medium to high hold. It has a textured matte finish and it’s definitely a product to consider, especially those with thick hair like myself.
As I’m making this video, Cavalier Clay by Blumaan is yet to be released. As you can see, I have dry hair. I shampooed my hair and blow dried it, so there’s nothing in there at the moment. It’s completely free of any pre-stylers, anything like that. I’m just gonna check out the website and see what they claim this does. Extreme texture for the hair. Heavy hold, which I really, really need for my hair and contains organic oils and amino acids. It says, just like other clays, “Cavalier Clay by Blumaan works best if you have medium to thick hair.” Definitely my hair type. “It’s made for anyone who’s looking to become a modern-day gentleman.” Not quite, but I’m still gonna give it a go.
It says it’s not really for people with very thin hair, so yeah. Clays, I feel, are perfect for just an everyday hairstyle. They give the hair a really kind of casual look, casual vibe going on. Let’s see what we can do. Let’s see what we can do. Yeah, it looks like a very generic clay, very generic clay colour. Smells like Play-Doh. I don’t know. It just smells Play-Doh-y, but like the other BluMaan products, they have that kind of bees-waxy natural smell to them. It’s a little bit reassuring, because you know they haven’t piled it in with fake fragrances and other crap that hair products don’t necessarily need in them.
I do like the packaging. It’s a little bit 70s, isn’t it? That kind of orange and brown, it’s very 70s. Let’s get into using Cavalier Clay by Blumaan. Go. It’s a little bit tougher than a normal clay. Okay. A thicker texture than what I’m used to in a clay, but there we go. It kind of breaks apart very easily, like it’s not sticky and thick. Yeah, let’s just run this through my hair. I’m just going to put a little bit on my fingertips first of all and let’s see if you get that volume and texture. I should zoom in for this. Definitely gonna need a little bit more. I kind of started with not so much, but when usually styling your hair, it’s good to start with a little bit of product then add to it rather than using too much and thinking, “Oh god, what am I gonna do now? My hair … My hair’s ruined.”
Rub that in again. It rubs in, like I said, really, really easily. No stickiness. No stickiness. It’s not gritty like a few cheap clays that I’ve used, which is nice. The hold is very, very good. Forget about the style of my hair at the moment, the hold is definitely there. work. I’ve been running my fingers through my hair quite often since putting the product in. That’s what I tend to do is flip my hair from side to side until I’m happy with the style. It’s good. My fingers aren’t getting stuck through my hair.
Look at that, Cavalier Clay by Blumaan has got a lot of hold. It’s hold very, very well. I’m not crazy about the smell, but I feel like there is no fragrance to it and the Play-Doh-y smell that I’m smelling is literally just all the ingredients put together. Whilst I’m not crazy on the smell, one thing I do hate about men’s hair styling products is when they put that horrible after shave-y scent in it. That smells like body wash. That smells like every product that they target at men, is that really horrible, strong, almost gym changing room aftershave smell. I’d rather have a fragrance like this that’s kind of nothingness compared to a horrible, heavy man smell in my hairstyling products.
Okay, sorry. I had to go off and fiddle with my hair a bit, because I don’t have a mirror in front of me. Poorly prepared for this video. Did Cavalier Clay by Blumaan work in my thick hair? It did. Definitely yes. I didn’t get that usual tugging feeling that I get from a lot of hair products. Is it holding my thick hair in place? Yeah, it is. Obviously, I would have to test this out for a day, but for now, it’s doing pretty good. I always set my hair with hairspray anyway, because my hair is that thick. I feel like I just need a hairspray anyway.
As I mentioned, the smell, I’m not hugely fussed on, but that is because it’s just like a very generic ingredient smell, if that makes sense. There’s no fake, that I’m aware of, no overpowering fake perfumes. The … Oh, no, it does say there’s a fragrance in there. It’s not crazy fragrance. I heard a review that it smelled like vanilla, but I don’t … I don’t think that’s vanilla. It’s more Play-Doh-y, but once the product hits my hair, it doesn’t smell like anything anyways, so it’s not really a big deal.
Is Cavalier Clay by Blumaan groundbreaking? Not really. Is Cavalier Clay by Blumaan a good clay? Yes, it is. It definitely is. I think what sets this up over the cheaper clays I’ve been using is, it’s got these essential oils in first of all, so it’s doing your hair some good, unlike cheaper clays, that’s just kind of product. It’s not really doing anything for your hair. It’s not bad for your hair, but it’s not really improving your hair, whilst this is a product that kind of helps make your hair healthier while styling.
Usually with clays as well, I’ll get a lot of frizz. A lot of little bits coming off. I didn’t with this one. It kind of help control the frizz of my hair. As always, my discount code is going to be down below. Obviously, you guys get, I think it’s 10% off the product and to be completely transparent with you guys, if you use my code, I do get a cut of that sale as well, but as I always say, I never put my name to anything that I don’t really trust or like.
I hope that kind of helps you make up your mind whether you’re gonna purchase this product or not. I have reviewed a few of the other BluMaan products. I’m still meant to be reviewing one, but I just can’t bring myself to do another hair tutorial today.
That’s it for me now, guys. I will see you next time.
